International Coach Academy

Are you an Accredited Coach?

Not all coach training programs are accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF). The ICF is recognized worldwide as the one organization that ensures accreditation is only awarded to coach training courses that meet strict curriculum guidelines; that use coach trainers who are suitably qualified to deliver the training; and that adhere to the ICF Code of Ethics.

Is it a legal requirement to become an accredited coach?

The short answer is no. However, apart from the significant advantage of receiving coach training from an accredited coach training organization; there are a number of countries around the world who are well on the way to making it a mandatory requirement in order to practice as a coach. The writing is on the wall. It also makes the process of becoming a credentialed ICF coach easier.

Is BCI accredited by the ICF?

BCI is not required to be accredited by the ICF because we exist to help coaches build thriving, profitable coaching businesses in the specialized area of Executive Coaching. Many of our course participants are already accredited coaches or are in the process of completing an accredited course and, whilst you will learn a lot about coaching and about how to coach, on the BCI Training program, we do not specifically train you to become a coach.

Which ICF accredited training centre does BCI recommend?

There are a number of ICF accredited courses available for you to choose from and they can be accessed through different forums. At BCI, we highly recommend the International Coach Academy (ICA) as the preferred coach training organization.

Why does BCI recommend ICA?

We recommend ICA for a number of reasons, including:

  • ICA is a well established and respected organization which is fully accredited with the ICF;
  • You can begin an ICA course whenever it suits you;
  • You can complete your ICA course at your own pace within a 3-year time frame - (some students have completed their ICA course in under 6 months);
  • All the classes on an ICA course are conducted on the telephone or online via teleclass format; and each class is conducted at several different times to help you choose the best time zone you may find yourself in.
  • ICA provides an adult-learning environment and offers a broad range of support to help you through their course programs; and
  • ICA offers their courses in English and other languages, including Mandarin.
